  • My PS5 is so stealthy, that I've never even seen it.

    • @Mugenloo unless you buy it from another country or private sale, it is actually pretty hard to get one unless you are willing to pay double for it to the few stores who have them.

    • Best comment

    • Ebay moment

    • Even with 46k likes, this comment is still underrated 😆

    • My dad is so stealthy that ive never seen him

  • I wish we could buy this and others DIY's as 'ready-to-build' packages :D with every thing pre cut and 100% ready for assembly.

    • it'd prolly be quite expensive due to the enourmous 'manual' labour

    • $450

    • You read my mind bro.

    • Honestly, that's what I expected the sponsored part of the video to be when he began his segue. I thought he was going to say he'd partnered with dbrand to release a conversion kit to swap your PS5 internals into his custom-designed case.

    • @Yokonato they can legally sell these just branded different

  • It looks incredible but I'm curious how the airflow is. Have you tried leaving a game running for a few hours to see how hot it gets?

    • With hole for the fan it becomes 5 degrees cooler than the normal plastic case

    • @Allan Any difference from the factory specs is just due to lack of testing and knowing what their tolerance band is, not due to a lack of engineering bodies. I'm an engineer, and in my experience companies will assign multiple engineers to the same task just in order to bring in the timeline, not really to get a better result. One guy who understands heat transfer and has the proper equipment to test it can do just as good of a job (if not better). It just might take them longer.

    • @Vidal A common misconception, the strength of a magnet to mess with components would be INTENSE. You wouldn't be able to get the top off at that level but normal magnets would be fine.

    • While I’m sure this guy is really good, he’s not several teams of highly qualified/paid engineers with millions of dollars of testing equipment, like Sony surely has. So I’d be surprised if this build has as good an air flow as the original build. But clearly it’s much, much prettier!

  • This is next level. When I was a kid some friends & I made ourselves custom Xbox's but nothing so grandiose as this. We used more crude tools and method, IE we used a ruler and a dremel to cut out the cover, then decorated the inside with LED light strips and adhesive, and glued a piece of plexiglass to the inside so you could see the motherboard, disc drive and heat sinks. We all thought that was pretty neat.

    • @ItsActuallyJared Oh wait, you meant the animal. My bad lol

    • @ItsActuallyJared A crane? Now that’s impressive.

    • And I thought making an origami crane was impressive...

    • that's lowkey wholesome though and its nice to hear cause I've never tried shit like that before.

    • It is.

  • Here I am, trying to buy a ps5 seeing guys doing DYI projects with spare consoles. Wonderful work, this kind of costumization could work in so many electronic gadgets.

  • The most difficult part is buying the PS5

    • in mexico no

    • Wait for the slim PRO model everyone haha

    • omg yeah i have been saving up for so long and for like a year I have been trying to find one still haven't found one

    • @Burhan Uddin Prottoy I'm stuck on step 1 😔 Nigeria is tough man

    • @MKSVEN yup I just switched to Xbox it’s not bad at all

  • This isn’t necessarily my style but it’s made me realise how I wish companies would make consoles that could fit in to the average house better. I don’t live in Mars colony, I don’t need this minimalist space design.

    • @ZeroSugar the mini fridge looks normal?

    • Series X, Series S, Nintendo switch etc. look completely normal, it’s Sony that favours these futuristic designs

  • I think a brushed aluminum or steel would have looked a little classier than the carbon fiber. but absolutely sweet design!

    • Brass!

    • @Nico Norway I'm assuming by "safer," they mean that the cutting process for aluminum would be safer than the one for carbon fiber.

    • @a2kvarnstrom safer how?

    • safer too

  • That carbon fibre flap used for on/off button was very clever and that hexagon cutouts looks damn cool😍🔥

  • The level of craftmanship here is simply amazing to say the least.

  • This guy is 50% engineer, 20% interior designer, and (usually) 30% aluminium

    • 100% big brain

    • And 25% James McAvoy

    • He's in game of thrones

    • Not sure about your engineering comment. He’s handy with carpentry & working with some basic soldering but your comment would be like saying every plumber is a fluid dynamics engineer… don’t exaggerate as people like you fuel irrational thinking that gov taps into.

  • I would add at least some sort of dust filter at the top. The PS5 has the air intakes on the sides (when horizontal) so it doesn't really need them, but when you're pulling air straight from the top, a lot of dust will get in.

  • Very cool! I would like to see it done with a disc drive version as well

  • The dbrand stuff is great, I just got the classic grey for that PS1 nostalgia, one thing to note is the adhesive covers are a bit difficult to install(well) if you, like me, lack steady hands

  • Great work! My only “criticism” is more of a personal preference but I think you should have made a stand-alone power button rather than using the left side of the carbon fiber port cover (which was still very clever btw!)

    • His design suffered from the same disease as the original case. Too-clever-itis.

  • I don't know what's more impressive. The end result, his skills, his camera work or his narration? We are very lucky to have Matt

    • The fact that he has 3 ps5s

    • For sure

    • Narration

    • Seriously though

    • What's most impressive is that he was able to get his hands on a PS5.

  • Now THIS would be worth the scalper’s price. It adds longevity, style, & stealth from the girlfriend’s hammer/purse (now all you need to do is remove the beeping when it turns on & you’re golden lol) Very well done.

  • Amazing looking build there! I would love to have one just like it :) But Im curious tho, carbon fiber is also VERY good at stoppig wireless signals. And I know Sony uses bluetooth for their controllers, have you checked that this cover doesn't have an impact on the range or introduces input lag?

  • Nice job! I would have made the same indentation (if possible) on the bottom for the carbon panel to be flush with and invisible behind the wooden frame. But maybe that might have been a tight fit, considering the few mm height clearance you had above the internal components.

  • Absolutely unreal. I’m so impressed! Never would’ve even thought of doing something like this.

  • I think that this video just goes to show, that our future doesn’t have to look like some blade runner minimalist dystopia.

    • @Jay nope, it's priorities not lazyness.

    • Any of you people actually involved with designing products? 😋

    • I think that's why I like creators like Matt and Jonathan Ward. Form can still matter as much as function.

    • @Reaper500 the future is now, old man

  • So beautiful, I wish all my consoles has that cool custom wood look, with carbon fibre.

  • I'd love to see something like this for the disc version. Ether way, looks beautiful

  • ThePS5 looks absolutely beautiful and is perfectly crafted to perfection! Also a super great way to disguise from any robber or burglar! Seriously looks super impressive and minimalistic and you're right it definitely looks like a device from the 60s or 70s now! Love the Walnut color overalll it ties together well and is pretty to look at!

  • Reminds me of early consoles in the 1970s that always had a unique wooden design to them. Pretty cool!

  • Imagine trying to claim warranty after doing this to your PS5

    • @Filipe Dias True. Yeah I meant Europe

    • @credodeo2000 2years is minimal waranty based on laws

    • What are you talking about? The warranty is void as soon as you open the case. This obviously doesn't stand a chance.

    • I think he can fix it by himself if something wrong with the PS5

    • 😂😂😂

  • it looks so amazing but a brass port cover would’ve looked so clean

    • That carbon fiber is just begging to be snapped off.

  • This is true craftsmanship, truly a combination of the most ancient artisan craft and the most modern technological innovations. Incredible work here~~

  • Honestly? Freaking beautiful. This is really a gorgeous piece, well made! I'd pay for this rather than the original ps5 design that sticks out like a sore thumb.

  • it would be so amazing to get a next gen console released in a similar style. Amazing work

  • Gamers: Designing their room fitting the Hardware. This guy: I'll just redesign my Hardware to fit my room.

    • If it doesn't add pointless RGB it's not a worthwhile redesign.

    • @S Sinderholm I'd say the ps3 held its own pretty well. The ps2 gave it a starting push, but the ps3 achieved things unthinkable in ps2 era of gaming. The ps4 was just like... look a new fancy console.. and now you have the privilege to pay us to play online! Honestly almost nothing else changed other than the controllers, you just pay us now.

    • @Hans Schuman Tesla's wonders! The space soap opera will cost so much thst everyone will be livingnin a cart box in the US but they make it sure everyone's still having power so they keep collecting fees.. 😂

    • Exactly what people in the 1930s did with radios and in the 1970s did with record players. They were designed to fit decor.

    • @Kazrron which also rode on the success of the ps2

  • My only concern that's in my head is regarding about the SSD. I know the PS5 Console has a small area for housing & slotting an SSD (with/without a heatsink), but it seems to me that although this looks good, it looks as though there isn't any place for the SSD.

  • It looks incredible but I'm curious how the airflow is. Have you tried leaving a game running for a few hours to see how hot it gets?

  • I love the look of carbon fibre so much, and the ps5 looks amazing!

  • This is an absolute treat to watch; Thank you for taking this much time and care to build all these cool things man.

  • I'm not even mad that this whole thing lead up to a dbrand sponsor spot. Congrats Matt! Dbrand has good taste in content creators.

    • @Erik Lona is more like the server offering you the special of the day before you've order your food.

    • I don't get how anyone can be mad at a content creator doing an ad these days. That's like going to a restaurant, ordering food, eating, and then being mad that the nice person serving you, asks you to fill out a 5 minute survey for a free meal 😂

    • Did you know about the icons skin?

    • @linkinlinkinlinkin dbrand is the epitome of based

    • @linkinlinkinlinkin BAY ZED 😎

  • I love the “it’s pretty easy” as he’s literally taking it apart

  • I love it. Wish I could buy one, when I eventually get my hands on a PS5.

  • These builds are so amazing. Not being a maker, though, does anyone have an etse store that does make them?

  • Turned out crazy good as always! The D-brand makeover was surprisingly good looking too! I hate the original design of the ps5

  • Imagine telling your friends to turn on the PS5... Friends: Where is the PS5?

    • Step 1: Get a PS5 Step 2: Get friends

    • @Hi-TyCh how is it? It's a joke

    • PS5 retailer: Where is the friends? Me: :'}

    • Brooo I thought daequan commented for a sec 😕

    • *finds the ps5* *.... wheres the power button?*

  • So, do you want those courier details now Matty? 👀 Looks great, I love the wood finish. The alignment of the grain pleases my picky eyes.

  • Ok, this is amazing. Stylish, yet functional. I want one.

  • I'm working my way through your impressive library and simply dreading the day I reach the end. Incredible job!

  • Maybe next time you can use neodymium magnets to attach the top plate, so you don't need to use glue and still have easy access to the hardware.

  • fun fact: the table he's working on is actually a computer.

    • @Haxidus he just meant that it actually is a computer cus the guy said no it is not a pc

    • fr?

    • @☭Onderdaan Zwabbah☭ why did youtube translate that to CHILDREN lol

    • yep, and a good one too

    • @Gaming boy he made that table a real computer

  • wow that’s really nice looking it actually looks like a amplifier instead of a video game system

  • I absolutely love the design. It looks beautiful! I just don't like the front port. I think I would have gone with wood instead.

    • Or brass would look nice and clean. I'm a huge fan of carbon fiber and it's look.

  • Fantastic Job I would love to do projects like these when I get my own place!

  • Huge kudos. That's beautiful. I wish these design concepts were more prevalent. So much more aesthetically pleasing.

  • I would actually pay for someone to do this…no joke this is too cool. I just wish I was smart and dexterous enough to do it myself.

    • Me too dawg this ps5 looks Way better

    • It just takes practice. It's not difficult. All of diy perks videos are simplistic enough for novices. All you have to do is try. You'll get it man.

    • @Spencer Franklin bruh

    • With todays wood prices….

    • The question is how much...😏😏😏

  • That's an absolutely gorgeous build. Have to mention that I really appreciate the effort put into your narration, high quality! Very smooth and the intonations remind me a bit of "How it's made" but better and more relaxed.

  • I don't have a ps5 (still looking for one) but this is absolutely amazing, it just looks soo good! And the ad is very smart bc I would 100% consider the matt black if I had a ps5

  • bro.. i totally admire how skilled you are and i would never ever be able to make anything like that but honestly, i have to say, it looks dreadful

  • beautiful. As a final touch, a retro Sony Badge would look amazing.

  • I might need to call upon your carbon expertise with my next aircraft build ;) If I do, it'll be sure to look fab! Ridiculously good vid, Matt!

    • If you build more then one, needing to sell it, Carbon is too expensive. Why not polyethylene? What forces it has to withstand?

  • I have no idea how this popped up in my feed, but wow did you do a fabulous job! Really enjoyed the beautiful finish and the narration. Excellent work, you've earned a sub from me.

  • This is incredible! The only issue is having to leave the front open if you have secondary storage plugged in

  • If somebody were to give you/mail their PS5 to you, how much would you charge to do this entire thing to their system? Seems awesome!

  • I love the way you designed this, I love the carbon fiber and wood look.

  • Wife: Did you buy a video game? Me: no, just a vintage radio.

    • My mum says game instead of console to me when she’s nagging me to get off the game see what I did there

    • She asks let's hear some music has to download Spotify on the ps5

    • Yes

    • @ArtyHendrix903 Exactly.

    • Now it’s more easier to convince my mom that it’s a plash speed

  • This is absolutely gorgeous! I love everything about it.

  • 6:30 he ground it downwards against the grain leaving the grain to dip at the corner. Ideally go with the grain, which will keep the grain straight and not have dips like that.

  • If I was rich and had my own ps5 I would hire this man to make my ps5 look like that! I love that design 😍

  • Imagine making a ps5, more efficient thermally, smaller and with no need for stands .

  • My wife: What is that? Me: Old radio from the 60's. Looks great. Isn't? Wife: Yes. I love. Still wor- Me: Don't touch it

    • LMAO!

    • the decides to send it to her grandpa as present without you knowing it.. IT'S JUST A RADIO!!! 🤣

    • Pretty good, though some grammatical errors ruined it.

    • An old radio with carbon fiber

    • @José de Jesús López Gutiérrez Josemaria Jose JulioCesar jose

  • This looks really good, while I would make some improvements, it still looks amazing.

  • Really cool! Thanks! Great Job! Too many precision instruments to make it a DIY more than a DI with all the tools a machinist would need.

  • I love this PS5, it looks like a old answering machine from the 80’s!

  • What would you recommend doing for a disc version? Would you do like a flip piece or a door like you did for the USB and Power button? This is a very cool piece and I am not really a fan of how it looks laying down. This is something I'd definitely give a go in building

  • Do I understand what’s going on? No. Am I enjoying watching this? Definitely yes :) Love the finished product!! Looks super awesome!! Incredible video :D

    • i see your comments more than i see my family

    • Understanding that if you get robbed atleast y your ps5 is still at home disquised lol

    • Thank you Pcn Very cool

    • ...he just put it in a different box. What is there to understand??

    • It’s the guy that’s in every C9MMEN5 SECTION YAYYYY

  • Wow. This is craftsmanship at its finest. Well done!

  • It’s gorgeous! I’d so much rather have this in my house than the default ps5 haha.

  • Not expected something like this at the beging of the video. But thats absolutely stunning! Skill, experience, vision. Amazing work! Cheers!

  • It would be cool to see some stats on the heating and airflow numbers.

  • This guy is probably the student who did groupworks all by himself.

    • @joseph frechette that happened to me once and I did phenomenal work, I got an A+

    • Why dosen't the teacher ever pair the lazy student with the one who wont let anyone else do anything?

    • and got the highest mark on all of them

    • ayyyy it's me!!

    • Storybroke YT, That was me before entering collage Then covid hit and i start found new hobby and become like what zun said And now im droppout lol XD

  • While I love the work that’s been done with this, the dedication is amazing and it looks absolutely beautiful and fantastic. I gotta say the wood is not my taste, still love the work and it gives off a very retro kind of vibe, but for me it just doesn’t fit. But hey to each their own and I’m glad I got recommended this video and love the channel

  • Love it! I think it looks much better than the original. Same for the one with the d brand decals

  • "I can't even find a ps5 and you get to have a spare one to do this?" Was my original thought but this looks amazing!!!😯😳😍

  • I'm trying to figure out a case design to put my ps5 disc version and my series X in together. This definitely helps spark ideas but the two consoles are built very chunky.
